Purpose of the Mini-Grant

The Community Programming Mini-Grant supports initiatives that align with our core themes and foster dialogue, learning, and cultural exchange within the community. We aim to empower local leaders and artists to create meaningful impact through innovative programming.

What We Are Looking For

  • Creative approaches to the themes of Memory, Mourning, and Migration.
  • Programs that engage diverse community members and encourage participation.
  • Scalable projects with a clear plan for execution and impact measurement.
  • Collaboration between local artists, educators, and community organizations.

Eligible Programming

Workshops & Education: Skill-sharing sessions, community classes, and educational seminars.

Cultural Events: Art exhibitions, performances, film screenings, and storytelling circles.

Dialogue & Community Building: Discussion groups, restorative circles, and community forums.

Who Can Apply?

Open to individual artists, community organizers, educators, and non-profit organizations committed to the values of The Elephant Free School. Applicants must demonstrate a strong connection to the community they intend to serve.

Funding Available

Funds may be used for artist fees, materials, marketing, and direct program expenses. We encourage applicants to provide a detailed budget justifying each expenditure.

Grant Tax Reporting

Grants awarded to individuals may be considered taxable income by the IRS. Grantees are responsible for any tax liabilities resulting from the receipt of these funds.

The Elephant Free School will issue a Form 1099-NEC for grants exceeding $600 in a calendar year, as required by law. We recommend consulting a tax professional regarding your specific situation.

GRANTEE RESPONSIBILITIES

AIf selected for funding, the applicant agrees to:

  • Use grant funds for the approved program

  • Deliver the proposed programming during the agreed-uponperiod

  • Acknowledge The Elephant Free School as a funding partner

  • Provide basic documentation of the program

  • Share participant/community impact when appropriate

  • Provide a brief final report and budget reconciliation

  • Provide any tax information required for grant reporting

Understand that grant funds may be taxable income and that the

recipient is responsible for any applicable tax obligations.
